“One rope encircles the province (Taiwan), one knot reunifies China.”

The ending of a year, as much as the beginning of a new one, seem to act as catalyst for decisive action. China, it seems would agree. Although we are not that close to a traditional Chinese new year just yet.

Yet decisive action on China’s part has certainly just occurred. China Coast Guard (CCG) has just conducted a ‘law enforcement patrol’ off the Northern, Eastern, Southern and South Western coastal regions of Taiwan island, using four separate CCG fleet formations in accordance with the one-China principle.

I like it. Good on them, and what a great time to do it. Reinforcing their ownership of the island as part of China. And with great cultural symbolism utilising the rope and Chinese knot, the finer descriptive wording of which I will leave you to discover in the accompanying article from Global Times.

What’s the significance behind the illustration of CCG’s law enforcement patrol off Taiwan island? – Fan Wei and Liu Xuanzun – Global Times – Dec 29, 2025

I salute you, China. Brook no foreign usurpers.
