Who gave this man …and please do not claim it was God… the power to make statements like that?

Well we know it was the American people who elected him in a landslide – whether or not you consider that a fair means of determining personal power. But, in my view at least, that mandate was to get US America out of the current economic mess it has gotten itself into, entirely through application of its own ill-thought-out policies. There was no mandate, as I see it, to interfere in the business of any other sovereign nations. And no ‘rights’ conferred, to be ‘First’ (however you define that) in anything.

Simple jealousy of the success of other nations which, under their own sovereign drives, are growing to out-perform Trump’s America in many areas of national achievement, is no reason or excuse for attempts to slow down those developments in order to retain position on a virtual list. The arrogance of the man and the delusions under which he works are, quite frankly, unbelievable. If your nation has had its turn, over centuries, failing to live up to its promise, and now viewing its own decline in international affairs, that is also no reason to use whatever means of power projection – weak or strong – still remain to you, to prevent other nations from rising to fill the void you are vacating. Instead you cut your cloth to fit your new circumstances and rebuild your fading homeland to make the best of what influence and abilities you still possess. Gracefully passing the baton of leadership to others and working towards the best practice of neighbourly conduct and approaches to friendship with others that you can summon from within, in a world which owes you nothing and to which you have possibly given many reasons for hatred.

Or, by following your delusory drives, your nation eventually gets turned into rubble – one way or another – just like ancient Rome.

Consider those things Mr Trump. While you may have a certain amount of luck – that ephemeral commodity which comes and goes at no-ones bidding – there is no God backing you or your nation. Any such notions are mere self-delusion. Abuse that luck or engage in those delusions, and they will likely disperse in a wisp. Leaving you where?
