Australia Gets Startled by its Own Shadow These Days – Needs to Turn a Corner

Australia, my own country, whose governments are always in a state of panic, increasingly so, and ‘warmongers’ to a man (or woman), are constantly jumping at any movement of shadows, including their own. That is no way to run a country. Or a world.

Australia’s Federal Government is obviously so intently engaged in jumping at shadows that they have not noticed what is going on in what they refer to, somewhat fecklessly, as ‘their neighbourhood‘. As if ‘they’ held the keys and a document giving some sense of ownership for the South Pacific region. Which they do not. For goodness sake, they do not even own their own country. They sold that to the US, through the CIA, sometime back in the ’70s of last century – and have been mere puppets of that country, obeying its every command, ever since. ‘Feckless’, incidentally, means ‘weak’ or incapable of effecting change. Seems about right for the joke governments we have had for the past fifty years or more – except perhaps for the Paul Keating years. Keating was a man who rightly saw that Australia was, and I would say still is, a ‘Banana Republic’.

Indonesia is in the news today. It involves their true friend, Russia… and nobody’s ‘friend’, the US …and of course Canberra, and its government news rag, ABC News, get the story completely arse about face…

‘Canberra confirms Indonesia won’t host Russian planes at air force base’ – ABC News – April 15, 2025

I personally would welcome Russian military aircraft on Indonesian land. Russia is a peace loving nation, standing at the front, as a bastion of deterrence to the warlike Western nations. Keeping those barbarians in check, with its superlative weaponry and its determined and real battle hardened military forces. Even the US is beginning to see that. Only today did the US use its power of veto to prevent a Western introduced move at the UN Security Council [Apologies, it was at the G7] which sought to condemn Russia – under entirely false pretences – for its missile attack on Sumy in eastern Ukraine yesterday. Which attack (and I’m sure the US knows this to be true, since there would surely be American casualties among the 60 or so dead) obliterated a building (that’s Russian precision bombing, as a demonstration for you). This was a known high level military meeting, involving high ranking Ukraine military officials and various Western (NATO) mercenary types – presumably also high ranking officers. Russia simply does not allow such meetings to happen on Ukraine (soon to be Russian) territory. And no, there were no innocent civilians killed.

But with regard to Indonesia, you would also know (would you not?), that Russia has already conducted naval exercises with Indonesian forces earlier this year, and there are plans to do more. There are also plans for Russia to get involved in provision and construction of nuclear powered energy with Indonesia, among many other joint projects. And that is probably why, if the rumours are true, that Russia needs to have some form of military presence in the country. If so, there is less than nothing Australia or other Western interests can do to prevent that from occurring. Australia would be better advised to turn itself towards becoming a member of the BRICS organisation – since all such Western led groups appear to be on the way to an inglorious end in an atmosphere of chaos, with the imminent collapse of the USD as a reserve currency – sunk by unpayable debt. The BRICS partnership could bring that about in an instant, by selling off their holdings of US debt. But of course they do not want to do that. They would like a well-behaved and peaceful Western sector to be part of their own export market, acting in friendly competition. But the long projected chaos will occur if the US does not change its attitude to the wider world, a world no longer interested in being bullied and impoverished by Western colonial practices.

Australian governments, all of them, seem clueless as to how things have developed in recent years with Indonesia and many other nations of the global Majority – which used to be known as the Global South. The majority can no longer be dismissed or plundered. In January this year, Indonesia became the tenth full member of the BRICS community of nations. She is now lost to the West for ever. If Australia ever wanted to also join that happy group, instead of the unhappy fate which awaits it among its ever declining Western peers, it would have to ‘join the queue’, of something like 40 other nations waiting in line for the privilege. There would be no prioritising, as in the case of Indonesia. Australia is just not in the same weight bracket and also comes with a badly tarnished reputation. But hey! Look at the alternative option.

I will not hold my breath while waiting for my chosen country to turn a corner. My life is pretty much over anyway – but I do have children, and grand-children. I’m sure there are many Australians who know that turning must be done, if we (Australians, that is – but also the whole of the West) are to have any chance to survive this century.

Russia, Indonesia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, and a host of other BRICS and BRICS-hopefuls are working to ensure as many as are willing, will survive.

All the West wants to do is plunder and dominate …and that just will not work any more.
