Trump – Tilting at Windmills

That phrase is often used of someone hopelessly engaged in a project with no hope of success. Which is exactly what Trump is desperately trying to achieve in any attempt to get Russia involved in his fruitless plans to save America. The US appears to be beyond saving now. The desperation, palpable.

The only answer he is going to receive is that Russia has already stated its position as to what needs to happen before any kind of peace can be reached over Ukraine. They will accept nothing less, ever, or requested by whomever.

Trump’s problem is he doesn’t listen to what anybody else is saying. He also seems to have no idea that he is in no position to act as either a go-between or even a prime-mover in this situation. And he is not holding any value cards which could possibly change that position as a deal-maker. He just isn’t, doesn’t and cannot. Is he an idiot?; or is he simply deluded? Blinded by his own view of his fading charisma – and what remains of his nation’s past weight and power to influence other nations. Or at least a nation of the weight of influence which Russia now holds.

So, tilt away, Donald. One day you might wake up to reality – and observe, before speaking.
