Karin Kneissl, former FM of Austria, now Head of G.O.R.K.I. Centre, St Petersburg, is one such Hero.

Kneissl, reputedly a friend of Vladimir Putin (who needs no introduction, but if more people read about him, the world would have a much higher conception of his qualities – as a human being and noble leader of a respected and powerful nation), is quoted as saying: “without knowledge of your own history, it’s impossible to build a stable future for the coming generations.”.
I agree, but what is more disturbing than ignorance of historical truth, is the disgraceful attempts by Western authorities to alter history to their own benefit. Of course, the historical record does not show the West in particularly good light, and rightfully so, but you don’t correct that by altering the records. Such attempts set a dangerous precedent. Future generations of humanity must not be deceived in order to salve the consciences of the living. Deception, whether of self or of others, is one of the most heinous of crimes.
For the West, deception, of course, is their chosen way of life. It marks how they proceed in all their dealings with others. And is probably an indicator as to why they are found to be in such a dire straits today. Bluff, Bombast and Brutality are the hallmarks of Western thought and action. So it is hardly surprising that they would seek to cover up those facts. The rest of the world must not allow that to happen. Russia will not allow that to happen. So it is also not surprising that the West hates Russia and is trying to destroy her. The fact that Russia has long been aware of this – perhaps not long enough – but has also long felt the rough hand of the West, to deter and subvert her efforts to bring into being a peaceful and fairer world than ever envisaged by the West throughout their long period of Empire. That period is now over, though the Western nations themselves appear slow to even see, let alone acknowledge the fact, and cling tenaciously to the seats of power now crumbling beneath them. Attempts to change the recording of history are just one part of that. It will not work. The end-game will be reached.
I think it is only this current generation, led by sound minds of the prior, that has led to the determination of Russia, and I’m sure others, to envisage now being the time for that ‘end-game’ of Western supremacy to be enacted. This (the appropriateness of the moment) has been proven in Ukraine, in West/Central/Southern Asia, in Africa, in Latin America, all components of the Global South, where the West is floundering in a state of apoplectic inertia (you would never know – unless you watched me – how much serious fun I have in writing this stuff) as it begins to realise how the possibilities for it to wield the perceived power it once enjoyed (always marked with bluff, bombast, and brutality), and by which the world was cowed, have waned (‘drained’ might have been a better word) in recent years.
But the fact remains that the Global South has now seen that and has also seen Russia stand up to and bankrupt (again, ‘drain’ might have been a better word) the whole of the combined West, militarily. Oh, they may still blutter meaningless threats, and offer punishments they can no longer inflict, or that won’t work anyway, but basically they are just thrashing wildly and in panic, as their economies slide into what China insinuates, in parody, will become another Great Depression.
That would put a damper on 21st Century Technological Adventurism (Mars or Bust), wouldn’t it? And possibly for everyone.
It would certainly place more of a premium on good fertile Earth soil – for food (real food) growing in good, deeply black, Ukrainian (much of it now Russian) soil, over any perceived benefits of mining for minerals in order to manufacture, totally unnecessary in those circumstances, battery powered vehicles which are even now losing their shine somewhat (if they actually ever had any shine).

Maybe the world, the West at least, needs a new cohort of politicians of Karin Kneissl’s calibre to replace the bunch of dunderheads uselessly and dangerously occupying important seats today.
