Australia, Sucking on Lemons for its Entire Future Prospects

Australians have no idea just how suckered they have become over the AUKUS ‘Deal with the Devil’ they should have avoided at all costs, instead of blindly accepting.

Australia now simply has no future independence of action. We are a nation, bound to the US, by unbreakable ties. Unless, of course, China decides to rescue us from that fate – a move that would be very opportunistic for them, but also preferable for Australians. The question is, do we want to regain our sovereignty, or not?

Gareth Evans, a former Foreign Minister of Australia – in a time of more pragmatic governance than of late – discusses the matter for Asia Times. He paints not a pretty picture of our prospects.
