“This ‘Be like us’ is over” – Jan Oberg

I may at times go over the top when talking about my disgust with the US – the supposed leader of the narrow western corner, or ‘enclave’, of the world, its importance blown out of all proportion to its actual value within human society, but that is only a ‘frontal’ position taken because I don’t see them changing in any way (I think that is actually impossible) prior to being thoroughly emaciated, humiliated, and destroyed by whatever means is necessary to accomplish that by the non-western world.

Such an ending for the west is now actually viewable from wherever it may be that you are currently standing. And it will not take much more effort or much more time, to see that accomplished.

Nonetheless, that does not mean that I hate either that nation or its hangers-on. I am actually a citizen of a western nation. Not a proud citizen by any means. In fact there are times when I wish I were anywhere else and if I were younger, that is what I would be planning. The future for the west is looking grim. Truly grim. And I’m sure there are many people among the western nations who are thinking along the same lines. It is a sad reality but one that must be faced.

I thank Simplicius for including it in his latest excellent account of the Ukrainian conflict which is where I found it. The speaker’s name is Jan Oberg, and the following is all I know of him at the moment. I can make no recommendations about the organisation with which Prof. Oberg is associated either, because I know nothing else about it.

Jan Oberg and his wife, Dr Christina Spännar, are founders of The Transnational Foundation, TFF. Born in 1951, he is a Danish citizen living in Lund, Sweden, since 1971. He is an internationally respected peace researcher, mediator and peace commentator, as well as an art photographer.
