SPIEF (the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum), held annually, has become one of or perhaps ‘the’ most important economic event in the world across the years since its inception in 2005.
Oh dear! I was going to do an article praising the forum concept, but now that I have seen a compulsory COVID19 PCR Test forms part of the entry requirements, I have lost all interest in the matter. Good luck, participants. Abandon hope, all ye who enter there. The shallow thinking which led to that rule – which smacks of feeble western thought patterns – makes me bitterly disappointed in the whole thing. If I were in a position to attend, which I am not, that would be a sticking point to my even considering taking part. What a ridiculous thing to impose on free-thinking people. Russia, you have tarnished your reputation.
I’m not sure what good to expect to come out of this affair now?
Disclosure: I have never previously submitted to taking a PCR test. Nor would I ever do so. The whole concept is a sham.
