There is no longer any need to fear US naval supremacy or in fact any kind of US supremacy. There is no longer any such supremacy. The US (and, by definition, the West) has been well and truly gamed.
‘Gamed’, in this context, means rendered ineffectual, obsolete, and any other word carrying the general sense of being unneeded, unwanted and uncared for, as a result of losing whatever kind of influence or prestige they had as the ‘game’ progressed. Being ‘gamed’ frequently entails being caught, at some stage, with your pants down.
Ok, I’ve had my fun, now let’s get serious. I really need say no more. Pepe Escobar has said all that needs to be said in this article, yesterday…
‘How Yemen changed everything’ – Pepe Escobar on The Cradle – December 28, 2023
Oh, I just must say one more thing. While the US Navy does currently have 11 aircraft carriers it does not have 11 Carrier Groups. In fact most of those 11 carriers are unable to even put to sea. And even if they were to be made seaworthy (which would be a complete waste of time and money) the US does not have the means to raise combat ready crews for either the ships (plus their protective escort screens) or for Naval Air Groups to fly from them.
You will never see more than 2 such carrier groups on station somewhere around the world, with another 1 or 2 returning to port or being refitted. Someone else, with more knowledge than I, said recently that even those carriers on station cannot move without their escort, and those escort ships – the carriers major protective screen – cannot engage enemy forces, potentially for more than a few hours before needing to be rearmed – which cannot be done at sea. This means the carrier cannot remain on station unprotected, by itself, during the rearming process. Days of sailing, for just a few hours or even minutes of engagement (depending on what is thrown at them).
Yes, I stand by my statement – they have been gamed.
