One of the most well-known quotes from The Bible would be ‘There is nothing new under the Sun’. That phrase stands today, as it always has, as a reminder of the non-existence of novelty.
Humans are fickle and untrustworthy, as they always have been. Fish swim, birds fly, ruminants graze and predatory mammals eat ruminants. The Sun shines and the moon beams. Water always finds the lowest level it can reach and all natural things, thankfully, act naturally according to the rules of the natural world. That man can create ‘gimmicks’ formed from natural resources is not a source for amazement or in any way ‘novel’. It would be that if man could create ‘gimmicks’ out of thin air, but that is impossible. Novelty, on this natural planet, is impossible. Novelty is impossible. Everything we see, everything that happens, everything that has ever or ever will happen, in, on, above, or under our world, does so simply because it is …well …’natural’. There is nothing new under the Sun.
So, when scientists get all excited about making or attempting to make some new discovery, whatever they say they have found or are looking for – IS NOT NEW – and does not represent any change whatsoever from that which is natural, and has always ‘been there’ as the direct result of natural forces since the universe began (if it even had a beginning). Such excitement should therefore not be a cause for wonderment but treated more as a cause for suspicion as to why they are looking for something to be ‘new’ or ‘novel’, at all.
I know that all sounds quite Ludditistic or even Neo-Ludditistic. But take this as an example…
Scientists studying Antarctic Circumpolar Current to take closer look at ‘heat flux gates’ letting in warmer water – by Jano Gibson – Australian ABC News – November 13, 2023
I mentioned the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (the ACC) in one of my earlier essays debunking the current Climate Catastrophe myth, and I have no reason to alter anything I said there. There is nothing new about the ACC, it formed between 45 to 34 million years ago during a period of great flux in the tectonic plate rearrangement of Earth’s land masses. I believe the formation of the cold water belt of the ACC was as a direct result of the movement of Antartica, which was initially just another land mass and part of the super-continent of Pangea – therefore possessing no ice cover at all at the time – towards the southern polar region of the planet. There have been changes to the flow of the ACC of course, but they were nothing to do with the constant changing of the climate. It was the joining of the two Americas around 6 or more million years ago which was the cause of those changed flows – setting up the Atlantic Gulf Stream and other important movements of water. Such changes do not come about for trivial reasons such as supposed changes to climate.
Now, of course, the high-priests of science have come up with the novel notion (here read the title of this piece again) that warm water can penetrate the millions of years flow of the ACC, through what they have cleverly termed ‘heat flux gates’ (oh my, they do love a catchy name!), and they are spending vast sums of money in trying to prove that this will cause the melting of the southern polar ice sheet. How dramatic is that? I sense another dramatic climate crisis point emerging. But is it true? Or is it simply and plainly more alarmist nonsense?
I feel it is the latter. There is nothing new under the Sun, and if there are actually inflows of warmer water from outside the ACC belt then they must have been there since its most recent disturbance some 3 million years ago (and are therefore nothing to worry about). If, as the linked article suggests, there is a risk of ice melt to the Antarctic ice sheet from these warmer water intrusions then this would have already happened long ago. There is no risk. And even if the whole of the West Antarctic sheet were to melt, that would have little effect since it is mostly sea-ice. This is just scientists playing science games.
But there is something going on, so I won’t waste any more time on this subject but try to finish the final part of my debunking articles as soon as possible.
