The Syrian situation is once again poised on a knife edge. I hope Syria’s army, the SAA, has the strength – I know they have the resolve, and the right – to see this through to the end. “No mercy for Idlib terrorists” said Russia’s Lavrov recently, and that is also the right attitude.
The next few days are going to be critical. The SAA needs to surround Saraqib, including Erdogan’s forces if necessary. There will then be no way the terrorists and the Turks can hold onto the Idlib pocket and yet another Western backed rats nest will be closed and reopened for normal Syrian business, by controlling all the major roads in the area. It will then only be a hop and a jump to reach Idlib city itself.
