Will any sector jump ship? Has Europe, at long last, realised this truth? There are stirrings, but have they the strength and the will? Canada, it seems, may just have awoken to it, and PM Carney seems to want to make a stand. I am not convinced Australia is even aware of its rather dangerous position as a member of the criminal gang led by Trump.
But is something actually happening to make changes to the world order we have known and lived under for decades? Well, if you have been paying reasonably close attention to world affairs in recent times, you will surely have noticed a growing divide between the Eastern (that is, non-western), bloc of nations – commonly referred to now as ‘the Global South’ or ‘Global Majority’, and the west’s apparent incapacity to project the power it once possessed to hold dominance over that emerging group – which is intently focused on maintaining each its own national sovereignty within a multipolar world. Particularly since the rise of Russia (from late ’90s of last century) and China, both economically and militarily. And these are not the only nations which could be so cited as similar examples. You may even have noted the decline in western power to dominate sections of this growing new group. When, do you remember, was the last time the US or any of its concubine states even initiating a serious attempt to repeat past successes in this field? There are in fact no such recent occurrences, even when counting those involving the use of proxy forces, in preference to the fading relevance of their own in other than sneaky (some might say ‘cowardly’) nighttime instances.
I could go on ad infinitum in this vein, but what I want you to read (since you are here, and already reading) is this fresh piece by the unmatched (in this field) Pepe Escobar, in which he further explains what is going on, especially focusing on the soon to be realised expulsion of the west from the landmass of Eurasia. Forget about the acquisition of Greenland, or Mexico. Canada? No chance. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that the US may in fact find themselves isolated, no friends at all, and with no back- or even front-yards, inside the lands they already possess. Europe, or what is left of it, eventually swallowed up (by necessity – on their own part – what other option would they, either jointly or separately have?) into the fold of greater Eurasia.
