Australia Relying For its Security on a Failing State. How Stupid is That?

There is no escape for the US, from that failing State status, if it remains on the well-worn path it has made its very own for much longer (which appears likely). It will become a fully ‘Failed’ State, where everything that used to work to hold the working business end of a culture built on those destructive necessities together, gradually, then suddenly, will not work any more. And that includes the ability to build nuclear powered submarines. Don’t even think about the social costs.

And that also includes, and goes for, the US so-called ‘Allies’ in Europe – who are in much the same state of economic collapse. Australia, somewhat isolated from all that coming mayhem, may find itself the sole representative survivor of what used to be called ‘the West’. That’s a kind of unfortunate irony, or an irony of misfortune, isn’t it? Who then to lean on? Sans submarines – which are even now unlikely ever to appear through the growing and thickening mist.

Surely there is a better way? A more prospective outlook? Something we ‘fortunate’ Aussies can be working on right now? The way ahead, which is also the way out, is actually clearer than ever before, but will we take it? Only a turn to Asia, to China in particular, can save Australia’s bacon. Staying with the current course, the current alliances, the current geopolitical elements and cultural ties, will only lead to our own degradation and failure as a nation with even a modicum of independence. That is a given.

If it will help with firming these ideas in the mind, in order to form a more global outlook, I offer this recent discussion between Danny Haiphong and the unique global experience of Pepe Escobar. It is one and a half hours of serious talk, which will pass in an instant if you get into it, but may serve to alter a personal mindset to a different and more rational viewpoint…
