The rest (vast majority) of the dumb clucks choose to die of asphyxiation and starvation, or global terror, in a barren world.
Australians are generally not much different, I guess, to folk in other communities, because the same views (a drive toward ‘net-zero’) appear to prevail all around the globe. It is a case of mass stupidity, or mass ignorance.
Thankfully, it doesn’t really matter. ‘Net-Zero’, or anything like it, is never going to happen – whether from climate change or humanity’s zeal-driven crazy urges.
Some crazy scientist pushes the saying – which is true, but not for the reasons he thinks – that ‘Nature Always Bats Last’. Meaning: ‘Has the final say’. Which it does. And nature, being infinitely more powerful than the whole of human endeavour combined, is in the position to totally ignore our grubby and ill-thought-out intentions altogether. We don’t count at all in the analysis of the way the world progresses.
And there is no reason to think we can alter that situation. No reason at all. And if you study the events and repercussions of the past decades, it becomes clear that we have so far achieved nothing of our blindly intended interventions to alter anything on the climate front – and never will. The fact that that is actually a good thing, is immaterial. But such will not prevent us from worrying ourselves into an early grave, if we so choose. Until we begin to see that all the previous warnings of impending climate doom over the decades (and there have been more than half a century of those by now) were all miscalculations or outright lies. Surely the ‘penny must drop’ fairly soon. How foolish many folk are going to feel, as that awakening occurs. And some perhaps feeling more than a little angry.
Not that the climate isn’t changing. It is. It always has – mostly very slowly. In fact it mostly changes to an unnoticeable extent over the span of single human lifetimes. We were fools to think otherwise – or to allow ourselves to be driven to think otherwise. We will feel cheated and seek to blame others, but it is only personal ignorance as to how our world actually works, which has – over time – caused that knowledge gap to grow. Earlier generations, living closer to the land, would not have suffered the same delusions. Maybe there is a lesson there somewhere. Science and modern education, coupled with desires for an easy life are the real culprits, and that places the blame for the mass delusion entirely on ourselves. We must relearn the basics of living. And maybe that is the future (the present one now miserably failing) into which we are collectively heading.
Anyway, back to my first statement. More on that in the article below. The article title, though true, is misleading. But since it is based on a propaganda poll, that is to be expected.
