I intend to keep hammering this message until the whole misguided concept of CO2 regulation is withdrawn and we can keep shooting as much of this gas into the atmosphere as we really need. There will always be a place and essential use for it. Such regulation has recently been declared an ‘Endangerment’ to society, and it is not difficult to see why. It is a relatively short-lived gas in the atmosphere, above the minute quantities for which there is any possible manoeuvrability as to its quantitative presence there. Which ranges from a base level (death of all planetary life) of approaching one hundredth of one percent of atmosphere, through the current level of around four hundredths of one percent of atmosphere, to the recent past of several millions of years ago to several tens of millions of years ago, of as high as fifteen to twenty hundredths of one percent of atmosphere. Those were the days of the most verdant, productive, and pleasant planetary conditions the Earth has ever known. But even under current conditions we see its deserts beginning to bloom again and its forests to increasingly green. In spite of our efforts to assist in the realisation of planetary death, which is where we were headed until recent changes which we seem to want to deny.
I don’t mean we should begin producing carbon dioxide industrially. That would be stupid and unnecessary. Nor should we bury it industrially underground. That is stupid and irrational. But there is no reason to stop using fossil fuels to generate it as a by-product of global civilisation advancement – in most cases – spread equally and fairly through all nations, according to needs. That does not include war mechanics or military use of any kind. In fact all military activity should be subject to a universally monitored shut-down. In a fair and equitable world there is no need for such excess and waste.
The article below expands on some of these ideas…
