Humanity will fail if it ceases to use Fossil Fuels as an essential basis of society.
The title quote comes from this article, and it applies to all nations – not just the US…
‘The Hill Allows a Clinton Crony to Lie About Climate Change Tearing Our Nation Apart’ – by H. Sterling Burnett – on Climate Realism – August 1, 2025
…I suggest you read it.
To inspire the desire to do so, here is a paragraph from that piece…
To start, for a broad range of extreme weather, even the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) admits to having low confidence that trends have changed or gotten worse, and for most classes of extreme weather events. The IPCC also does not forecast any such signal to arise by 2050 or 2100, either. Data provides no support for claims that during the recent period of modest warming, floods, hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, or drought, have become more frequent or severe, despite what misleading headlines and unresearched stories in the mainstream media might lead one to believe. Globally sea level rise is not uniform, and the best evidence from tide gauges and historical analyses suggest that the present rate of warming is not unusually rapid historically.
Why do I make this statement? We all know that fossil fuels and other natural resources are not everlasting. We came to realise that decades ago, while our global population rapidly expanded, increasing the strain (for want of a better term) on Earth’s resources. But the ‘solutions’ we have come up with, to enable us to ‘avoid’ the dilemma of our mining those resources to the point of depletion or even exhaustion, are but figments of poor imagination and of industrial or commercial greed.
You know that. I know that. We all know that, except for the dull-minded and disinterested, who couldn’t care less. So why do we continually kid ourselves that we are on the right track to some sort of equilibrated, green, Nirvana, designed by the unscrupulous? Knowing that it will all eventually fail. But not knowing, or perhaps even thinking about, where and when the actual fail-point will be or the subsequent fall-out from that.
Are we living in a vacuum? On a Runaway Train? Or a Leaky Boat? And who do we throw overboard first? The Dissenters? The originators of the plan? The poor? The sick? The old and useless? What kind of world do we think this is?
I can tell you this – there is no solution. At least, not one that is going to keep everybody happy, healthy, well fed, or usefully occupied – other than at basic levels, following much loss, living simple lives – at first, while the planet somewhat – and eventually fully – regenerates itself around us. If we are lucky.
When will this happen? Don’t ask me. I have little idea. I’m sure we can keep this foolish, dead-end, global society we have created, going for a short while yet. Perhaps even passing the responsibility for doing that onto our children, or theirs. But you can surely see that this can not go on forever. Especially if you live in a western community, most – if not all – of which are already beginning to fragment and disintegrate around us. And don’t tell me you can’t see that. So, it will be soon. That is clear. But how soon? That is impossible to tell.
What do we do then? Well… I could be locked up if I started to suggest what needs to be done. Work it out for yourself.
Having lived now for 80 years and having watched throughout the most concentrated period of human history as this all gathered to the crescendo of momentum we see today, I can afford to simply watch and observe in whatever remaining future I have left. And which I do not plan to do from a jail cell.
