In the Israel-Iran War, “The spell of unrestricted Western diktat has finally been broken: all that will survive is ‘the loud lament of the disconsolate chimera’.” – Pepe Escobar

Only by the form, the pattern,
Can words or music reach
The stillness, as a Chinese jar still
Moves perpetually in its stillness.
Not the stillness of the violin, while the note lasts,
Not that only, but the co-existence,
Or say that the end precedes the beginning,
And the end and the beginning were always there
Before the beginning and after the end.
And all is always now. Words strain,
Crack and sometimes break, under the burden,
Under the tension, slip, slide, perish,
Decay with imprecision, will not stay in place,
Will not stay still. Shrieking voices
Scolding, mocking, or merely chattering,
Always assail them. The Word in the desert
Is most attacked by voices of temptation,
The crying shadow in the funeral dance,
The loud lament of the disconsolate chimera.

Excerpt from: Burnt Norton by T.S. Eliot

It will not be a day of great sadness for me (although that is easy to say before the event), when the corruptly evil and shameless West lies humbled in the dust of its own foul culture. That day is not far away, and it cannot arrive too soon. It is with some disgust that I admit to being a Westerner by birth. Though I take pride that I am not numbered among its doctrinal adherents. Western peoples? I am not their enemy (I cannot stand against myself). But for those caught up in the mythologically chimeric stricture of ‘Western supremacy’, or even ‘legitimacy’, I pity, with a deep sadness for their having been subjected by utterly false teachings to take such a non-human or even anti-human position. I sincerely hope many of them can be brought to see the folly of that thinking, as some, perhaps many of us, already have. And it is to that end, or at least for one of those ends, why I write here almost daily on real events which serve to illuminate the terrible error of the Western path which can only lead to its untimely and painful demise.

And so I present here another new Pepe Escobar piece…

‘Escobar: Iran Now First Line Of Defense For BRICS & The Global South’ – Pepe Escobar – The Burning Platform – June 21, 2025

May it hold meaning for you, and perhaps, if necessary, alter your thinking.

There is the before. There is the after. But “all is always now”. And in the stillness of the ‘now’, free from ‘shrieking voices’, may understanding be awakened.

    1. Thank you, and while I am not too familiar with T.S. Eliot’s poetic work (I just wanted to find the source of the quote, since it was unknown to me), there is an instant drawing of the mind into the images woven by his exquisite use of words seldom, if ever, found today.
