There are issues – of the day, perhaps of the past, and maybe of the future. And then there are more basic issues. Which is more important, and who decides?
Well, basically, there is no point in discussing specific issues – of the day, or the past, or of the future – which is why so much modern comment is mere bloviation (randomly directed hot air, generally devoid of meaning or understanding), or actual nonsense. No point, that is, until underlying basic issues are defined and resolved. That would eradicate over 90% of online comment – which is commonly based on erroneous personal views, picked up, only the gods know where. It would also result in the majority of Tabloid news and Broadcast News channels to print and screen mostly empty bulletins – because neither they nor their journalistic cohorts have a clue what they are talking about. Which also applies to the major actors and, unfortunately, to each observer (you and I included). None of us have the full picture. Oh, we can kid ourselves that we do – and that everyone else who disagrees with us is an idiot – but, in a world which demands either unity of accord on the most basic of life principles of life and being, allowing some form of joint concerted action toward some common purpose, or alternatively offers nothing but total chaos.
I ask you, as one of life’s observers (if only as a participant), which way do you think we are going? Purpose? Or Chaos?
Let’s use an example. If there really was any truth to the commonly held view on out of control climate change, so heavily impressed on us from those who claim to know, do you think we or most of us would stand any collective chance of making it through such an ordeal?
Too hard? OK, here is a more simple example, a very minor example of what I mean. Most of these things are very minor, but there are so many of them floating around in the ether of a complex society, each of them split seven ways, that there is little wonder we are a somewhat perplexed and confused species, wandering through life in an internalised fog with growing mental disorder and deteriorating health tendencies. I feel sure that is not what life is meant to be about.
‘Who Really Decides What “America First” Means?’ – Andrew Korybko’s Newsletter – June 17, 2025
Hey, don’t spend too long thinking about this. It is not my intention to cause you concern, or even a loss of comfort. There is no huge expectation of a sudden turnaround in global opinion or action on any of these things. In the end it will be what it was always going to be. But perhaps you may now be a little more aware as to why that is.
Don’t thank me. That would be too much of a burden for me to bear.
But if you are up for more, try this little conundrum, also from the substack of Andrew Korybko. The difficulty factor is a bit tougher than before and requires a little background knowledge. It also impinges on why we must be careful what we say, and try to fully explain what we mean, in order not to be misunderstood (which can carry consequences) and therefore also applies to all of us…
Skip, if this is not for you.
