It’s already after mid-morning in Istanbul and I have heard no signs of a Ukrainian presence in that city.

If this meeting happens at all, it will be a direct discussion between Russia and Ukraine, with, I suspect, as the host nation, mediation by a Turkiyesh representative. There will be strictly no US representation present. I suspect insistence by US SoS, Larco Rubicon on, on there being such representation, would be sufficient cause for the meeting to be called off. The US has no place or business interfering in such discussions.
