No Budgetary Blitz Can Bring Catchup for US Military

“Trump says,” – well, Trump says a lot of thoings, mostly meaningless blather and bluster.

And not the least of those things are about the US military – a second rate, irrationally spread organisation, manned by weedy nerds and tired old men, poorly provisioned for anything more than ‘policing’ US illegal actions in regions of even more inadequately equipped forces around the world, and totally incapable of surviving prolonged modern warfare against any real non-western armed force. Just because they possess big ships and lots of airplanes, makes no difference to that assessment of their real combat readiness. It is only that numerical difference and their possession of nuclear weaponry – also second rate, outdated, inadequately maintained, and untrustworthy – that marginally places them above many other similar national militaries. And all things considered, on the basis of their misadventures of recent years, that is not an unrealistic assessment.

So, safe to say, no matter how much the US spends (their annual military budget already greater than that of the next 20 nations combined – from memory), they will never (for at least a generation and perhaps actually never) catch up with or become a concern for Russia’s own military (possessing the world’s best equipped, trained, and real battle hardened forces). Similarly for Russia’s best alliance companions in China and Iran. Not to mention North Korea, India, and others.

The US, aside from the wealth aspect – which is highly suspect – and the material incapacity of US war production, as measured against that of other nations, does not have the capacity to produce soldiers of the same or even nearly the same calibre as Russia can. Feeble nerds, the addle-brained, and socially inadequate to ever be allowed to bear arms, which groups make up a majority component of their military aged menfolk, after decades of poor food and moral vicissitude, means that they are incapable of actually producing fighting men in sufficient numbers as their better provisioned and morally/culturally upright and mentally alert chosen enemies clearly can.

So, spend away Trumpo. Just another of your daft ideas. Digging only deeper holes for your economy to fall into. And I don’t see anyone on your side of the pond spruiking any better ones.
