It’s Time for the US to Receive its Own Ultimatums

I have always considered the writings of William Schryver (well, since I have known of the man anyway) to be one of the sanest and steadfast voices of anti-imperialism that I know of. His latest, succinct but pointed piece is no exception.

Actually, on afterthought, it is something of an exceptional exception in that it discusses an aspect of current tension which is otherwise little thought about. But I at least can see the importance of such thoughts. And I am certain they are somewhere near uppermost in the minds of Russian planners at this time of particularly pointed uncertainty in what is essentially a death-match occurring in Eastern Europe. There can be only one winner. And it must not be the US.

So, read what Schryver says. The digestion of it will take far longer than the reading.

On Ultimatums

I would expect that these things are already being formulated by Russia to present to an obviously troubled and bewildered US, which possesses little awareness as to what it has stepped into. I would expect, in fact I would almost (if it were not impolite to do so) demand that this is what Russia must do.

This is no time for pussy-footing around in soft and comfy slippers. It is a time to be in with ‘Boots and All’. The peace thing can come later. Perhaps much later. Much important work has to precede that.

The fact that President Putin has been seen for the first time during this unfortunate saga, dressed in military uniform, gives the lie as to how he is thinking. The childish blurtings of Donald Trump, and the faint bleetings of his sheep, pale into insignificance in comparison.

The Ides of March are upon us. Important events are set to happen. This is no time for sleeping on the job. There will be no peace for the wicked. Everything stems from that.
