What The US May Never Understand

About a week ago I wrote a piece titled ‘What Russia Understands‘. A few days later I wrote “Russia Suggests…“. This was all said around the very recent opening of communications between Russia and the new US Administration of the newly ‘dusted off’ President Donald Trump. Communications, let it be said, at the request of said Donald Trump, who seems to be in rather an unduly hasty ‘hurry’ to get something or other sorted out. Russia, let it also be said, was, nor is, in any such similar haste to get anything done.

What does that tell us? It tells us that the US is desperate for something (because it has no plan on which to base its strategy – therefore suffering intense ‘knee-jerk’ reactions to almost everything ‘out of the blue’ which confronts it); while Russia continues – as it always does (because it plans carefully, therefore suffering no ‘knee-jerk’ reactions to most circumstances), to tread gracefully through life, always seemingly in control of arising circumstances.

Such a contrast!

As I tried to point out in my writings, Russia understands what is going on in the world. In fact Russia has made great strides as a respected world leader among many of the world’s independent sovereign nations. Including China, in a mutually respectful friendship.

The other point I have already made is that Russia Suggests, since together with an understanding, comes the right to suggest meaningful ways forward to others. There is absolutely no point in a nation with little or no understanding of world affairs making suggestions of any kind. Can you see where this is going?

And yet the ‘hasty’ party comes forward, speaking first, mostly from ignorance, driven by need, and instead of asking questions which might enable it to understand, and giving answers to smooth previously soured transitions and relate in some way to current conditions. Instead, stating its own desired position and making meaningless ‘offers’ with subdued threats of various kinds. Revealing exactly what the US may never understand – but which it will eventually need to agree to, since…

Need I say more?

I will say this. I do see certain signs that Trump 2.0 – unlike his earlier version – is getting better advice now on the situation. Will understanding, at some level, follow?

For example, a quote from the article below by Larry Johnson – recently in Moscow with Judge Andrew Napolitano for an informal talk with Russian FM Lavrov – “I was struck by Donald Trump’s comment today, where he opined that Ukraine may cease to exist as a country.“. That statement, arising from advice from his new Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.

There does seem to be at least some hope for a better understanding at US top levels. Without that, there is little hope for progression on ‘overcoming problems in dialogue with US’ for the foreseeable future, necessitating a continuance of the conflict in the ‘currently actual’ Ukraine (and stretching perhaps even beyond that), until the possibility of some sort of agreeable understanding can be reached.
