Where has real journalism gone? I will tell you where it is not. It is nowhere to be found in the West – which leaves a whole lot of possibilities for it to flourish elsewhere in the world. At least very little is to be found in the West. There are scattered voices raised in opposition to the general zeitgeist, some of which are actually genuine, while others may be tainted to varying degrees due to older, more stubbornly held delusions of a different nature.
And I would like to hint at one of the main reasons for that drought of good news aimed at Westerners. It is because Western folk have allowed themselves (cosily coddled in their own self-made reality bubbles) to be immured, perhaps even vaccinated, against having a care about anything going on outside of their own narrow world-view. They just don’t care, and won’t even listen to any line of reasoning which might threaten or render uncomfortable the gently vibrating reclinated easy chair which soothes and eases any arising or intruding painful thoughts. I harbour some uneasy notion that this is also what AI is all about – a method to painlessly put humanity to sleep, without a care in the world, while machines take care of our every need, endless tailored entertainment, seamlessly feeding, painlessly medicating, harvesting body parts, and disposing of remains as pig food. Is that what we are being reduced to? But that’s another question altogether.
Hey look! I didn’t mean to go down this line of thought too much. My main purpose in writing today was to list and explain every single fallacy in this report issued today by Australian Broadcasting Corporation – Online News. A lie (at least one) in every sentence about Russia.
But I have now exhausted the internal force driving my fingers to type this far. Maybe I will leave that for tomorrow. But then it will be yesterday’s news, and I try not to deal with yesterday’s news. There is enough new news coming out every single day now. Falling behind is not acceptable.
Here’s a game. Wherever Russia is mentioned in this piece, the mention contains a lie. See if you can spot them.

I will provide just one example. The first one a quick scan found.
‘…repeated the Kremlin lie that Ukraine was responsible for starting the war…‘
To refer to this statement as a ‘Kremlin lie’ is itself a lie. On Feb 22, 2022, Russia mounted a rescue operation, referring to it as a Special Military Operation’ (SMO’, or ‘SVO’ in Cyrillic). Prior to that date, Russia offered military aid assistance only to the people of Donbass, who had formed their own military units to free their own beleaguered people from Ukrainian aggression (constant shelling of civilians), they being, at that time, self-declared Independent Republics. Russia recognised their independence from Ukraine but did not send military units into the Donbass until after those republics had conducted separate referenda which determined their wish to become regions of Russia, their decisions being accepted by Russia and immediately by Presidential decree both Donetsk and Lugansk Republics were declared to be new Russian territory. It was only then that Russia introduced military units into those territories. This was not an ‘invasion’ of any kind. This was Russia protecting her own territory from Ukrainian invasion – which it has taken three years, more or less, to overcome. See: Recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics
Incidentally, you may question my use of the name ‘Lugansk’ rather than ‘Luhansk’. It is no longer correct to say ‘Luhansk’, since the territory is now Russian land, and the Russian Cyrillic name for both the city and region, is ‘Lugansk’.
At the time when this all began, Ukraine had the largest military force of any European or proto-European country. Around half a million troops. At no stage of the initial conflict did Russia commit more than 120,000 troops to all points along the Ukrainian border. They were outnumbered 5:1 by Ukrainian troops. No-one invades another country with such imbalanced odds.
This is not to say that Ukraine started the conflict. They did not. They were under the full influence of the US government and direct CIA command. The upwards of a million or so Ukraine deaths and injuries which have resulted over the last three years (yes the Ukie military has been destroyed and rebuilt twice over that time, and once more, earlier after the 2014 Maidan coup – by the Donbass troops alone) can be laid directly at the feet of the US – and their sucked in allies of course, who together have fed the flames of indiscriminate war to their own imminent and probably fatal detriment. This is just a summary of course. Much more could be said.
You can see now, just how much effort it takes to rebut a single, glibly stated lie.
