I wrote yesterday – my Goodies and Baddies piece – about how a successful future for all mankind can be brought about by Russia and the rest of the Global Majority acting in unison to ensure it does go that way.
I hinted, merely a hint, that there is an opposite and hopefully not nearly so equal anymore, force to be reckoned with in the shape of the West – which in the next few days is to become the Trump playground – and which could, if left unchecked, stymie that future and turn it into something too terrible to contemplate.
That potential for a stymified future was adequately – perhaps with a little too much adequacy – exposed by Pepe Escobar in his “I’m gonna MAGA you, baby” piece on Strategic Culture Foundation, the previous day. Something I was not aware of when I penned my Goodies and Baddies, but something which overlaps to some extent what I said. Although, to my mind, Pepe overstated the potential abilities of the Mad Dog Trump (if such he turns out to be – which has not yet been established but is a quite likely outcome) to effectively steer world events in his own favour while his nation teeters on the edge of bankruptcy and ruin. At this pivotal stage in human history it would be far better to see a more stable international state of affairs than we have known for quite some time, to better understand exactly what is going on. But, it is what it is, although far from ideal. There are few rational heads around the table of events now unfolding. Nothing mush is going to be predictable for a while.
I am sharing Pepe’s piece here rather than closer to the end (as I often do with reference pieces) because I would like you to be aware of what he said, and which I found to be very apt and interesting at the same time, before I say anything else.
Yes, Trump has outed himself as a potential self-glorifying dictator riding roughshod over everything with no concern for or any pretense at democracy. Just ‘America’ über Alles. The bastard’s Bastard of all bastardry. How truly did I see that coming, from back when he first decided to run. Trump 1.0 was just a trial run. This, 2.0, is likely to be the real Trump. The brutish animal Trump.
Thankfully, if this turns out to be the case, Trump will be Presiding over a rump US in the course of self-destruction. But I am sure he could still be dangerous to a lot of people. Not least the Europeans. And not much anyone else I think. Putin is every bit, and more, his match (on the ‘Good’ side of course), if Putin maintains his steel – which I have every reason to believe he will. The old, ‘willing to trust everyone’, Putin is gone. And he is backed and surrounded by many other fine men (and women) of steel. Hardened, but still maintaining his deep humanity, through past failures of trust, viciously and without cause occasioned by these very same Western opponents – no longer ‘partners’ or – what was the other word he used in the past, I can’t recall just now. Now, at last, seen as incorrigible and unrepentant enemies of Russia – which they always were.
Actually, and round about here, I was intending to do a point by point commentary on Pepe’s article. But that was late last night and the burn, or angst, or whatever it is that drives me to write this stuff on these subjects I tend to cover, has now dissipated with a new day. And other pressing things have caught my attention. It’s that kind of period we are living in, don’t you think? There is hardly any time to think, before some new event takes centre stage.
Anyway, I’m sure I couldn’t match what Pepe wrote. Superb and thought provoking stuff. Did you read it? Do it now.
Oh! I just looked again at my title. It mentions the ‘Nuclear’ word. I should say something about that. I have said it before of course, never without due thought and cause. If things go the way I suspect them to go, sufficient madness will ensue to ensure a nuclear solution will be necessary to bring about a safe and secure future. Never mind what that entails (they are bluffing about that too).
That’s all.
