Of course they don’t ‘see’. They can’t ‘see’. They can only ‘see’ what their inbred supremacist and exceptionalist dialog has conditioned them to ‘see’. And that doesn’t include a Russia (or any other nation) possessing any rights, means, or opinions of which the US needs to acknowledge. Nothing, in fact, which could possibly impede the US from ultimately achieving a state of being ‘First’ in everything conceivable.
But now they have come up against a brick wall. They fell asleep for a couple of decades or three, thinking everything was rosy – a euphoric sleep of the self-assured, dreaming of their ultimate victory of a world ruled only by themselves (their Nemesis, the Soviet Union, now defunct). A sleep during which they fell behind in the race of technology and cultural stability. Their infrastructure, being ‘Jerry Built’, began to decay and fall apart. Their culture, always ‘Wild West’ in philosophy, began to degenerate into, well, the unseemly, crooked and confused mess we see today – where men want to be women, the women don’t want these twerps children and, in any case, such children as manage to get born are riddled with disease from growing up in a diseased society where even the very rich cannot walk a straight and untroubled line through life with any semblance of morality – other than of the most warped kind.
And that (the combined west lumped together) is just one eighth of humanity. The other seven eighths look on in stunned incredulity at the debased actions of these supposedly elite who, somehow, before the 7/8ths woke up to the charade, managed to rob them of their sovereign rights, their natural wealth, and mostly of their freedom to determine their own progress. They see it all now, very clearly. And that is why we see South America, Africa, West Asia, South Asia, Eurasia, and Oceania, now forming their own regional groups to rid themselves of the general US and western yoke of subjugation. And moving toward more freely intentioned international organisations such as BRICS. Where their own voice will be equally heard. And their own sovereign choices acknowledged, in a spirit of equanimity.
Where the west ends up, well, who cares really? They need to find themselves first, to recognise who they are and who everyone else is. Then they have to, if they choose, make resolve to try to join in with the progressing majority – as equals. I’m sure a forgiving world will make room for them. And of course they will be much less than ‘one eighth’ by then …and have little of their own to bring to the table.
That is a vision of course. Reality may turn out to be very different.
But it will never be ‘America First’. We will all become ‘The Dead, First’.
