This man. President Putin, is so on the ball, the dust now beginning to clear from the global pre-occupation around an election process in another land which did not really merit such attention.
In clearer air, the real world issues can be seen now and, with a new reality emerging, perhaps some nations, perceiving their position maybe having changed a little (this will become clearer as time goes by), may be looking for direction from other sources – perhaps previously despised or neglected ones. I know their peoples would like that.
So, along comes President Putin with his restatement of an unchanged and long-held vision leading to a Eurasia operating with unity of purpose, in effect I suppose, a gentle wooing (accompanied by mild rebukes) of Europe. With the hope that they, at least some of them, may have retained enough sense of self-preservation as to see the door is still open for renewal of connections within a greater, and blooming, visionary reality.
I hope they still have enough ‘wit’, dim or otherwise, to see this as an exit door from a world of chaos to perhaps some sort of brighter future within a more stable and growing neighbourhood of equals.

Nothing has changed from the brighter side of life. This has always been Putin’s vision of a unified Eurasia – as offered to the West as being a preventative measure for the conflict which has ended or ruined the lives of up to a million Ukrainians and disrupted those of millions more. Not to mention the ruination or crippling of most European economies.
Now, as part of a solution to that crisis, he is saying the door is still open to their cooperation. As a westerner myself, part of me finds it hard to understand the magnanimous nature and generosity of spirit such an offer engenders. But another part of me leaps with joy that at least part of humanity is still capable of, well… being human. Russians are a truly special people. Their history confirms that. Europe would do well to reconsider their currently embarrassing and, let’s say, gloomy position. They are quite obviously unworthy of such an offer, made in the spirit of human unity, but…
Are they capable of extracting themselves from under the heel of an utterly cruel and ruthless US, for the chance of a better existence, a new joint venture, among a growing group of true friends and equals?
