I Was Wondering When This Brave Gagauzian Lady Would Raise Her Head Again. It Takes Guts(ul) To Do That In Today’s Moldova.

The background for this story became headlines again in recent days as Moldovan elections got under way. With an indecisive first round not producing the result the incumbent West leaning party has been rattled and is resorting to typical dirty tricks (in true western Police State fashion) to try to ensure their victory in the second round. Yevgenia Gutsul, head of the autonomous region of Gagauzia in Moldova, and leader of one of the country’s opposition parties (who, in an earlier report, have joined together to field a single runner for the presidential goal – the other party in the second round face-off) was reportedly jailed earlier on trumped up charges (must have been released now I guess), to keep her out of the picture.

There is obviously enough interest in the country to not go the western option, in favour of a Russia facing one. Very interesting times for Moldova – and everyone concerned in the outcome, I guess. Such a result would produce a pro-Russian bloc, leading from Transdniestria all the way west to Serbia, through Hungary and right into the heart of Europe. And since Transdniestria will soon be linked with Novorossiya when Russia has finished sorting out the Ukraine situation, that will be a contiguous link from Serbia to the Russia mainland. Plucking a number of nations from the death-trap of a decaying Europe.

It’s a beautiful thought to uphold.

I know where my vote would lie, lay, or sit, if I had one.
