I like Dmitry Polyansky. He is a very serious, capable, and admirable choice for First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN. I read with interest everything he says.
On September 25, in a UN Security Council open debate, he said – and I quote (from TASS)…
“Those who seek to demonize our country despite the truth and common sense and to threaten it, must comprehend – a victory over a nuclear power, especially one that has such military and economic potential as Russia, is impossible in principle. I will say it straight – the West is currently afraid not of Russia’s victory (in Ukraine and over its Western allies and backers) but of truth prevailing together with us, which would cause nations to stop fearing [the West]. This will undermine the hegemony of the United States and its satellites, which they cannot comprehend their existence without.”
The inserted comment in brackets is mine. I agree entirely with what Representative Poliansky said. There is not even the faintest hope of the West defeating Russia. Or of obtaining any form of peace deal with Russia that does not involve complete capitulation of both Ukraine and the West to the basis of terms offered them in December 2021 by Russian President Vladimir Putin, as suitably amended for subsequent events as yet to be stipulated in Russia’s favour.
