Well, I assure you, it is. And it has been for three decades now. I didn’t know that until recently, so don’t be discouraged if you didn’t either. It is one of those little secrets “They” don’t want “us” to know. But the news was outed, back in 2015 I think, with this image…

This was something Jordan Peterson mentioned in the video I included in yesterday’s post.
Have you ever wondered what life on Earth would be like when all conditions were in ideal balance, the average temperature (GMST) was around low to mid 20s°C (4-7°C higher than today), the planet was at its greenest and most productive (without the need for modern agricultural additives), and the atmospheric CO2 level was 2-3 times above today’s level? Ideal conditions indeed.
Please do not let your mind be swayed by the thought of temperatures being 4-8°C higher than today’s average temperatures. The conditions are not comparable, and for most of the world would be only marginally different to today’s values. It is just that more of the world’s surface would have received pleasant mid-range temperatures, aided by the increased sheltered greenery of forest and woodland. This is conjecture of course, but it seems logical to suppose something of the sort. And we have the derived scientific climate data to back that up. It just needs a little more imagination than we normally spend on these things to be able to form a picture. Most of us retain a very muddled image of conditions in bygone ages, formed mainly from artist’s impressions. Whose impression is more valid? Yours, informed by whatever facts you possess, or someone else’s? Who do we trust? Those are all questions which have a far wider applicability than the subject I am covering today.
That period was also when the Antarctic ice sheets formed. There was no Arctic ice back then. In fact, what we know as Antarctica may have been somewhere else entirely at the time, because this was also in the middle of the time when the continental land masses were finalising their moves to current day positions. That is something we rarely think about when we are considering historical epochs. We tend to view past conditions through the lens of what our eyes see today. A big mistake. And that movement of the continents wasn’t completed until only some three million years ago. Where you live now, was undoubtedly somewhere else back in those times.
Well, in fact, we don’t have to imagine those idyllic times I just described, because it occurred only some 25 million years ago and remained at that enjoyable level for some 15-20 million years. Today we call that the Oligocene and part of the Miocene periods. After that (well, before that also) things began to fall apart. The Earth continued its cooling (temperatures had remained steady for that 15 million years), and the CO2 level also began falling. A total disaster for the planet, resulting in the widespread desertification of large parts of world due to the loss of foliage.
So, back to the purpose of this post. The Earth is greening, and not, obviously, for the first time. Why is that? Listen, Chuckies, Darlings, Neighbours, Friends, use your noodle. It can only be the result of the increasing level of CO2 in the atmosphere over the past two decades. Dispute that if you can. This is exactly the work that CO2 was intended for. Building life, Earth life. It is not meant to be ‘Net Zeroed’ – whatever that means. If you listen carefully to the narrative you will find it simply means ‘paying’ someone to pretend to remove a problem by hiding it. The payment funds coming from those who have been persuaded there is a problem which needs to be removed. The very basis of Capitalism. Nothing changes.
I’m sorry, I could carry on like this all night. It is almost 1am and I need to sleep.’
