I cite two very recent examples…

‘Xi speaks to Starmer on strengthening exchanges’ – Global Times – Aug 23, 2024
This is not to say that Chinese leadership is in any way gullible or not versed in the true intentions of western representations but, unlike Russia, which has time and again been subjected to western subterfuge and entirely false representation of the west’s intended policy directions, to the extent that Russia now no longer holds any delusion about anything western representatives may say – or promise.
Whether China holds the same point of view as Russia does in relation to the west, is perhaps indiscernible from the outward face, the external view, of Chinese authorities. I’m equally unsure whether the rogues who present the outward face of the west to the rest of the world, actually know much about what the Chinese are thinking about them either. It is either a clever game the Chinese are playing or at worst a very dangerous straight game. One where they still hold out some hope of rehabilitation for western nations. I personally do not hold any trust in anything the west, or any part of it, does or says. They simply cannot be trusted – or believed. Which makes any conversation with them, pointless. The fact that China does talk to the west, in relatively mild, even friendly terms, is, in my opinion, not the correct approach. Russia has the right approach. China, at this time, does not. But maybe there is a valid reason for that. I am not condemning China, I mean, what would be the point? But I am just a little suspicious of their motives. Suspicion modified of course, by the thoughts I presented above.
But still the thought lingers ,,,you can’t beat a crooked party by playing the same dirty games that they do. Not that I am accusing China of lying, but subterfuge, a covering or hiding of true position or intention, all of which is covered by the single word ‘deception’ – the west’s main policy weapon – is only a single step away from lying.
Perhaps China needs the same kind of jolt to their reality that Russia has suffered a number of times over the years and which has, I believe, finally formed the pragmatic stand which Russia now takes with regard to the west.
…and I am prepared to give China time to reach that realisation and make their own stand. After all, it took Russia a very long time to reach that position itself. But the new world both these nations are building along with the Global Majority, if it is to be at all successful, as I believe it will be, must disown all such airs which permit and pursue underhand operations, for a clear and honest approach to all things.
Not all of the world will fit into that new world being built. Certain nations, and I am talking mainly about the west, must make that decision to deal honestly and openly with all others, if they want to be part of it.
That choice cannot be forced on any part of humanity. But nothing less can be accepted. And those who do not wish to be part of it, must be allowed to go their own way to their own destiny. That may be part of China’s dilemma. They want to include everyone. But that may not be possible.
