Today I want to continue with Part 2 of Lena Petrova’s discussion with Prof. Richard Wolff (see previous post for Part 1). This is well worth another 32 minutes of your viewing time and answers various questions you may have already been considering – it having now become more than apparent that the US, having climbed the hill of economic ascent and the power and influence which accompanies such a thing for some 6 decades or so of the last century, is now and has, perhaps for the last quarter century, reached its pinnacle and entered the downward slope toward the other end of the economic spectrum, with all that that entails. Mostly for its own most privileged and wealthy classes but also for those other nations which, willingly or not, tagged along for the ride.
Doctor Wolff lays it all out, quite strongly, in his own unique style, but they both finish quite weakly, struggling for the right words to frame a cohesive picture as to the prospects of a hopeful future for their country – both being US citizens. I can understand the difficulty they have. Personally seeing no hope at all for such an outcome. At least not until the current structure has been utterly broken and eventually reformed into something quite different and more aligned with the views of the global majority. I will leave my reasonings on that for another time, knowing full well that nothing is certain until it happens.
