A Ship Divided, Simply Will Not Float

A third iteration of this post. Read on, for the saga.

After some searching I have re-found the original Global Times article on which I was basing my original post today. The GT article has been a little edited (I think) and re-titled, though most of it remains the same, from memory. Phew! Mystery solved. Here is the new title and link to the GT article. Maybe someone didn’t like the term ‘Fluid Nature’ and preferred the term ‘cliques’ to ‘Alliances’. I thought it was kind of fun.

‘Internal division of Quad highlights fragile nature of US mini cliques system’ – Global Times – June 25, 2024

Almost immediately after posting [the original version of] this article I discovered that the GT article it references had been removed – while still appearing in that site’s most read list, as I write this – and discoverable in internet searches (image below). Hopefully it will return again soon. It was quite abrasive, but not beyond GT’s normal policy. Maybe there were complaints.

‘Uncertainties for Quad highlight fluid nature of US alliance system’ – Global Times – June 24, 2024

I have been meaning to comment on the recent apparent weakening of Australia’s rather ridiculous stand, alongside the US and its claque (it is not really a ‘clique’ because none of them do it with any sense of enthusiasm or belonging or perceived benefit to themselves) against China, and a growing warmth of re-opened re-engagement with much bigger-brother – on whom depends its continued prosperity. And yes, I am definitely talking about China there, just to circumvent any misunderstanding, not the US (which is just an aloof and grizzly cousin).

Just to say that there seems to be a little de-frosting going on by the Australian side, assisted by gifts of bartering beads from the larger, Asian, former partner. Bringing some sweet relief to Australians generally and at the same time loosening its mooring ropes to the Quad. An imposition imposed on the country by the previous lunatic government of Scomo. Remember him? It’s kind of like a nightmare now.

Next we must work on that other Gremlin imposed on us by the grizzly cousin – as a result of mindless non-thought by Scomo’s mob of idiots. That of the nuclear powered submarines due to arrive at some impossibly long distant point in the foggy future – perhaps – or not at all. Won’t that be a disappointment? I jest, in a kind of temporary sarcasmic fugue state way.

Of course Australia is not the only Quad member loosely held in that unintended embrace so locquaciously and without much thought, entered into – obviously and solely to meet the needs of the grizzly cousin. India, about 5 times the size of the same distant cousin(?), has never really put much effort into the project, now acts on an even more diminishing program of involvement. The never-that-good ship USS Quad’s rivets are now loosening and it is taking water – to further dilute the organisation’s ‘fluid nature’. Happy will be the day it sinks.

Even happier will be the day Australia fully realises its independence of thought and action and joins the unsinkable BRICS-SCO-EAEU-Asian Unity vessel, sailing away from and leaving behind the floundering ‘Tinnies’ of western mariners across the seas of life.

I do hope I get to see that.
