Climate Cooperation – aka – PretendingTo Fight Climate Change

Axiomatically, there is no climate emergency (hence no need to capitalise the words), at least not yet. And when there is, it won’t be centered around global warming.

Therefore there is no need for Climate Cooperation – a charade which has grown to involve most major nations. There can be only one reason for that. There is a damn huge pile of money to be made from that damn huge pretence. But Shushhh! Don’t tell the people. They’re going to be damnably angry and difficult to control when they find out it is all a hoax. Which they will, soon enough.

In spite of all the false effort being put into controlling emissions of so-called greenhouse gases, the damned emissions keep on rising. Irresistably so. And they always will – until nature is satisfied that a reasonable balance has been reached. My best guess is that will be at somewhere around when CO2 levels are double what they are now. [You should know, incidentally, that doesn’t mean it will be getting much hotter than it is right now. They don’t tell you this of course, but there is no link between CO2 levels and global temperatures – otherwise they would have to stop pretending.]

I am a supporter of all that China does, and also for everything that Russia does. It is universally beneficial that these nations are on the rise, generally, in all areas of modern life, while retaining their cool and principled focus on things that are important. I am also very frustrated and disappointed in all that western countries do, generally speaking. But note with some satisfaction that they all are paying heavily for their selfish malpractices. I wish it would all stop, but that is unlikely.

I am somewhat disappointed that Russia and China, particularly China, have joined the climate bandwagon, but understand that they also want to reap their share of the profits from the pretence game. They will pay too when the time comes. As it will, even if not perceptively in current lifetimes. But it will become obvious within current lifetimes that the so-called emergency has petered out, without any signs of falling emissions – proving what I am saying is true.

Emissions will undoubtedly keep rising a) because nature wills it and is working to restore the previous most ideal balance, and b) none of the pretend ‘solutions’ we have designed with the stated aim of reducing CO2 levels are, will, or can achieve such an outcome. I haven’t time to go into the ‘why’s’ here – other have already done that and proclaimed the case to unhearing and uncaring ears. And it is all too damned obvious with some simple accounting. Anyway, that’s all good, and needful. So, a cheery end, for now.

But then it will begin to grow colder …and colder. And the real money will be necessary to be spent. Will we have any? And what will it need to be spent on? Preparing living conditions such that folk in the coldest places will not freeze to death. It will still be fairly warm in equatorial regions of course. It is just that the global average temperature will be lower – and, in places, uncomfortably or even life-threateningly lower.

Why will it get colder? Because we are now reaching the very top of the ‘mini’ climate envelope the planet is used to operating within (on a cycle of around 120,000 years, give or take), having already climbed the usual 5-6C from base level – a little under 10C – in the period of modern human civilisation (less than 12,000 years). The temperature rises are much faster (10-15,000 yrs) than the falls (~100,000 yrs), so it is a quick upward thrust followed by a long, slow, fall.

We need to hope – although it won’t affect us, we won’t be here – though our descendants (if we have any) may need to carefully watch to see that nothing really bad happens when average temps. fall to the base 10C. There is a risk, however slight (never happened before in all Earth history), but potentially possible, that it will keep falling to Ice-ball Planet levels. Now that would be a first ever ‘Climate Emergency’.

Why did I write this? It was brought on by this article from Global Times, on the ridiculous situation we see right now. There will be many red faces in a year or two, when realisation dawns. This needs to be read in light of all that I have said here.
