“Australians unconsciously absorbed racist attitudes of cultural superiority to our indigenous First Australian peoples , and to our Asia-Pacific neighbours. These attitudes have held our nation back.”
“Australia and the Challenge of a Multipolar World” – from the website of Tony Kevin – Presentation in a global symposium on 29 April 2023
I cite the quote above as an introduction to Tony Kevin whom I believe I had not previously heard of before today. I have a brief TASS report (linked below) to thank for that new acquaintance which, for me, provides a breath of fresh air into what is fast becoming a stifling, stale and stupifying atmosphere around the nation I have called home for more than 42 years now. A country which once was a joy to me and in which I was happy to take citizenship has, over recent years, become almost enemy territory – its people and government (especially the government; the people simply trailing meekly along behind wherever it chooses to take them – no longer any discernible fighting spirit left in them to raise even the mildest of protest) bearing no resemblance and no hope for that which I first viewed half a lifetime ago. I don’t expect to see any change for the better until the nation sinks into a morass of its own making. In the self-same mold as that which is also overtaking (irresistibly overflowing) the US-UK consortium of degenerates – and those from which I fled, thinking Australia (a virtual backwater of the world at the time) was a fairly safe haven. It is a sad realisation, for anyone I guess – myself included – when something on which you have based so much hope turns out to be the dud you thought you had left behind. The only hope left has to be from an external source not connected in any way with the mistakes of the past. Thankfully, there is hope to be seen out there. A few bright lights in a sea of gloom. Lights which signal there is in fact a better way for humanity to conduct its business, with new horizons on which to focus.
So it is with some relief that I see a fellow Australian (not the only one of course, and I expect there are many others waiting in the wings for a new day to dawn) who sees things sort of in the same way as I do.
As a secure continental state rich in natural mineral and agricultural resources, Australia is a natural economic partner to the dynamic Asia-Pacific region to our north.
Our southeast Asian neighbours shake their heads sorrowfully at how Australia, after our progress towards real sovereignty in the 1970s and 1980s, is now apparently retreating into an anachronistic Anglo-American camp.
They see the opportunities Australia is missing to re-direct its energies as a vibrant young multicultural nation in an increasingly multipolar Asia-Pacific region.
All the economic and social assets are here to achieve this : the only thing stopping us is our political elites’ immature fears of Anglo-American abandonment.
“Australia and the Challenge of a Multipolar World”
Well, that is kind of all I wanted to say, breathing a sigh of relief. But what is the latest story which brought this to my attention? First I will just give a brief introduction of Tony Kevin, quoted from the TASS article I mentioned above. If you wish to learn more of the man, the first quote above is from his own website.
Tony Kevin began his diplomatic career in Moscow in 1969. He also served as Australia’s ambassador to Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cambodia. Since leaving the diplomatic service, he has devoted himself to the study of international politics. Kevin is the author of several books, including Return to Moscow (2017), in which he looks back on his years in Russia.
‘Decision to end special operation to be taken only by Moscow — Australian expert’ – TASS – Dec 6, 2023
If you follow my scribblings here then I think the title of that report reveals why I found the subject so intriguing. It matches my own views so long expressed here. I need say no more just now, just take a deep breath and hope for a good outcome.
Where is your Eureka spirit and love of freedom, Australia? Cast off the western yoke that is holding you back. Envision a better future than that which your government and its colony-minded establishment offers!
