Previously, a little over 42 years ago actually, the illegal takeover by Israel of the Golan Heights was declared to be Null and Void by United Nations Resolution. That land still legally belongs to Syria but remains occupied by Israel.
Earlier today, once more, “the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling upon Israel to withdraw from the occupied Golan Heights,” as reported by TASS. This time it must be enforced.
‘UN General Assembly adopts resolution on Golan Heights — results of vote’ – TASS – Nov 29, 2023
The Israelis, already badly failing in their struggle against Palestine (in which they abstrusely state the enemy as being Hamas), cannot afford not to fully comply with the UN repeated demand that “Israel withdraw from all the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of 4 June 1967, in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions.”
If they do not comply, being now largely without US support (US/NATO cannot afford to get involved – possibly ever again*), they leave themselves wide open to the Islamic world (and its powerful partners) to do some enforcing of the UN demanded withdrawal themselves.
This marks the end of the road for any ideas about a ‘Greater Israel’ occupying more land in West Asia. In fact it is looking a bit sad all around for any bright prospects of any kind of future for that nasty and objectionable nation.
The Jews themselves should be all right though. They managed for centuries embedded in other nations and without a homeland of their own. If they read their own sacred books correctly, they would know they gave up the right to a homeland after their god deserted them a bit over 2,600 years ago for unfaithfulness and they were removed to a period of Babylonian captivity, by Nebuchadnezzar, in the original lands of Sumer – Abraham’s (Abram’s) first home.
Most of the Judaic Patriarchal father Abraham’s seed through his grandson Jacob had been scattered to the four winds (no-one seems to know exactly where) a couple of centuries or more before that. [The dates are fuzzy. I can’t be bothered looking it up.]
Just because a few nutcases in the UK and US thought it would be opportune, and a nice touch, particularly for their own version of Christianity (related to Judaism), to gain a little more credence for its own not very substantive historical structure, does not provide reason to deprive a people, the Palestinians in fact, of their own natural homeland.
* A very timely article by William Schryver was published today. I’m in total agreement with what he says.
‘How to Lose A Carrier Strike Group in An Afternoon’ – William Schryver – imetatronink – Nov 29, 2023
You never see more than two of the US carrier strike groups out and about at a time (except where the journey home overlaps). They can’t afford to field any more than that, and soon none of them will leave port. They are, in any case, now just sitting ducks for powerful and long distance Russian, Chinese and Iranian missiles – wherever they loiter (even in their home ports).
