I find myself needing to take yet another break from my intended activities to add my voice to that of The Daily Skeptic who quote the Royal Society when they say…
The Royal Society authors find that the climate models that are stuck with an assumption that humans can and do control the AMOC have been wrong for decades. Neither past nor current models are successful in representing actual AMOC observational data.
‘Gulf Stream Collapse Scare Debunked by Royal Society’ – Chris Morrison – The Daily Skeptic – November 15, 2023
Climate alarmists are becoming (have become) not only a danger to themselves but to the whole world. The things thay are saying about impending climate catastrophe and the need for emergency action of any kind are pure bullshit, spurred on by profit hungry global corporates and others who have an interest in undermining normal life on the planet. We all know who they are.
This Gulf Stream collapse scare is just another such false narrative – one of the oldest in the climate scare handbook. Take it from me…
Firstly, the only way the Gulf Stream (which is part of AMOC – read the article) could possibly collapse is if the Isthmus of Panama would somehow be removed and the two American continents begin to drift apart allowing the waters of the Pacific and Atlantic to merge once again. How do I know that? Because that is how, in reverse, AMOC and the Gulf Stream were formed 3 to 6 million years ago.
Secondly, another coinciding major cause would be the need for the whole Greenland ice-sheet to melt. The Greenland ice-sheet only formed some 10 to 15 million years ago as the Earth’s Global Mean Surface Temperature (GMST) rose slightly above around 21°C and then began the continual slide (which still continues today) below that temperature and it will never unfreeze again until the GMST rises above that temperature. We are currently around 15°C of GMST and have almost reached the end of a warming period in the normal temperature fluctuation cycle which has at most only one more °C to add to that current level, before the cycle begins to plunge into the depths of cooling again. So, no chance for Greenland to melt – and no massive sea level rises. [Erm… there is a possible rider to that – which is nothing to do with climate change – and when I can get opportunity to write it up, you will see it on this blog.]
Thirdly, the Earth is actually cooling not warming overall and has been doing that for 50 to 60 million years. That cooling is, in fact, becoming a major concern which I also will finish writing about soon.
So, there is no need to panic over climate change and those ill-informed folk loudly screaming about climate emergencies and calling for climate action, need to sit down, shut their gobs, and do some quiet reading about the truth of what is actually going down. You are all not helping matters at all.
