‘Xi Dada Loves Peng Mama’

For your enjoyment, and perhaps even amazement.

It is not really news, in fact this video was made some seven years ago, that the man who is arguably now the most powerful man in the world, not to mention that China itself, has a very powerful asset in the woman who stands by his side on many official occasions – the always elegant, sophisticated, highly accomplished, very attractive, beautiful even, the obvious love of his life, his wife of 36 years, Peng Liyuan.

I don’t want to make this about ‘Xi Dada’ – he gets enough publicity already – and I don’t intend this to be a biography of sorts for the Chinese First Lady as there is enough information already out there for anyone interested enough to search for it. I just want to showcase a little of one of her many talents. Such accomplishment should not be hidden. Would you believe she has 28 Chinese Pop albums to her credit between 1984 and 2013 (she gave that career away when she became First Lady). Here are some examples of her singing… (note: some are old and not recent video quality, but the talent shines through)

For the next song – Heavenly Road – about the China built railroad to Tibet, you can choose to watch another old-ish video of Liyuan singing with a symbolic rail line floating above her head or a newer video (better sound as well) of the real railroad – with Liyuan’s voice and English subtitles. Or both if you choose.

…and finally, a Russian triumph… (incidentally, the military uniform she wears, testifies to her official rank in the Chinese military – she joined at age 18 – which plays a large part, I suspect, as to how she knows how to conduct herself in public, is that of Major General) …
