Ukraine? It’s All Over

I am refraining from commentary on the day-to-day theatrics which comprise the back and forth of ground movements in Ukraine and, leaving aside the human cost of all that – because it no longer makes any sense to discuss it outside of war crimes hearings. Also setting aside the fact that I may be going out on a limb when I suggest, as I now do, the whole disgusting scene is over. To all intents and purposes it has now ended. The result being exactly what was expected from the beginning, and the whole sordid situation being no fault of Russia. Nothing more to say, nothing more to see here – other than the clean-up and the judicial redressing of the balances.

Ukraine, under the guiding hand of the combined west, just played its only remaining hand and has no cards left on which to draw for another round. We have waited a long time for that final play, knowing that was what it was – if it was ever to happen. Two brigades of ‘crack’ troops – western trained and outfitted – slaughtered in just two days and for no material gains whatsoever. Only an utter fool or psychopathic madman would risk their remaining 10 similar brigades in the same way. The only remaining sensible option is complete capitulation. And not only for Ukraine, but does NATO want to risk the same fate? Because that is exactly what would happen – or worse.

I don’t expect to hear of any western action to the contradict that suggestion. NATO (including the US) will need to accept the Russian victory and take whatever demands will satisfy the Russian leadership to bring about a peaceful resolution . No western compromises will be accepted. This actually means, in effect, the end of NATO and an ignominious withdrawal of the US from Europe. It also means a complete demilitarisation, denazification and possible dismemberment (among adjacent and interested European states) of whatever remains of Ukraine following that defanging process.

If the west should be so foolish as to contest or refuse to accept such arrangements, Russia will need to sweep its way through whatever recalcitrant nations raise such objections in similar manner to the Ukraine operation. One way or another Russia will get its security demands – including an ‘up-to-all-of-Europe if necessary, safety buffer – met in full. Have no doubt on that. They will not want to go through a similar process some years further down the track. There is a multipolar world to be built. All who wish to share in the benefits of that new world, I’m sure will be welcomed to do so – without any duress, threat, or loss of national independence. Those who don’t, well, it will be a lonely, inhospitable world on the outside.

And that is all I am going to say today. You can read the news, and between the news, just as well as I can – if you venture beyond the corrupt vomit of the western press and media.

The future, of course, has yet to happen. But the path is being firmly paved. Another stepping stone just laid down by the abortive ending of the over-vaunted Ukraine counteroffensive.
