“People in White Coats”

Who said Russians have no sense of humour? Although I think, in this case, from how Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko described the words of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, it is not so much an application of ‘humour’ as it is of ‘pragmatism’…

…but it did cause a tingle in my ‘funny bone’ and a chuckle in my throat.

We should not confine this attribution to only the recent vocal emissions of the Polish Foreign Minister though. Since it seems to apply also to pretty much every utterance emanating from the thoughts of any leader or official of any Western nation at any time in recent history, on any subject. They all appear, all the time, to require the attention of those “people in white coats”.

Even though, by my own observation (and this may be simply taken as social comment), the famed ‘white coats’ seem to have been discarded for less formal attire. How times change, but sayings linger – and still retain meaning.
