We, the owners of and care providers for that life we have been given… the gift of nature… should, if we want to retain it for the full length of its intended duration, treasure the gift and learn how to protect and sustain it as best we can… not abusing or straining it for all too shallow reasons of personal glorification or notoriety. Such behaviour is the predilection of the Narcissist – and there is no lack of evidence of the growth of that extravagance today.
Living in the realm where nature manifests itself (that’s where we all are, in case anyone forgot) can be terribly unpredictable and often dangerous. Of course, the fool ignores those facts, thinking in his self-engrossed Narcissistic mind that he is somehow immune to all those things. The fool will often find that nature may occasionally provide reminders as to who is actually in charge of things here.
What has this to do with me? Well, you may or may not have noticed that I have not written here (again) for quite a few days… not by choice… maybe one of nature’s little reminders?
To cut a long story short, early on July 30, 2026, I attended my local hospital Same Day Surgery Admissions Clinic for what was expected to be a common surgical procedure with an overnight stay. Today afternoon, August 7, 2026, I arrived back home again, to begin the remainder of my life, in a new reality, with a few pointers but very little idea as to what had transpired in the intervening time beyond the borders of my confinement within that noble institution.
So, what had happened to the world while I was away?
I neither watch television nor read news journals, but thankfully in the modern era we have access to digital devices from which we may extract brief glimpses of the real situation in the world. All seems to be going swimmingly well from my viewpoint – the continued economic and social destruction of the West, internally and externally is ongoing (pretty much now without respite) and mostly self-inflicted – the climate is still behaving itself, as it should, despite the protests and frustrations of modern climate science – the global majority nations (all the non-west) appear to be journeying well toward better times ahead, while capitalism stands teetering on the edge with a rope around its neck. May it all soon be over, and we can all lift ourselves up, dust ourselves off, heal our various wounds, and get on with life.
I didn’t say what happened to me? Well, no, but I don’t really need to do that. Suffice to say that I am without a very ‘small’ part of me (that’s how the surgeon described it), plus a bunch of gall stones, but they were able to construct a new part to replace it. [‘Construct’ from what, exactly? Perhaps best not to ask.] Oh, and I have a brand new surgical scar going diagonally across my torso from my lower right abdomen to my upper left chest. I have yet to measure it. But that would be a bit Narcissistic, wouldn’t it? And I have to not lift any weight larger than 5 Kg for a few weeks. That is one physical restriction condition I can manage to keep. The ‘use crutches’ thing they want me to do? Maybe not so much.
I used the word ‘blury’ earlier. That was in relation to a psychological reaction to the whole traumatic experience I suffered, which is apparently a very common thing, especially among the elderly, arising from similar combinations of the parameters of this case. It is called Delirium, which if properly diagnosed and handled by qualified Mental Health Practitioners, can dissipate within days or weeks. My own Delirium was instantly dismissed by the evidence of my own eyes, denying any agency to other events I had witnessed during this period at the hospital site which is becoming something of a second home to me in recent times. I love the people there. Great people for the most part, and caring in what they do, working under very difficult conditions and for inadequate reward. [While the government squanders the great wealth of our nation on useless projects like AUKUS for products we will never see nor actually need, and harbouring US military vermin on our shores, further endangering us in a fast changing world where they are part of a powerless, declining empire. There will be repercussions eventually, and the guilty appropriately punished.]
As for the dissipation of my Delirium, it was a great release and relief, I can assure you. But the details will remain private.
So I had to look for an “I’m Back” subject to cover. A subject which was not too exhausting. A subject which I think wasn’t now needed, looking back at what I have already written. But I will leave it in.
I haven’t said much recently as to how Northern sea ice is going. l remain well satisfied that we are still living within an historic turn-around from Oh-so-slight and insignificant warming of the planet to the next phase of cooling – where both the lesser climate cycle we are most obviously operating within and the long-term current basic cycle of planetary cooling we have experienced for perhaps the last 250 million years (discounting externally induced events), are both acting in unison toward cooler times. Not that that will matter to modern humans or their many potential coming generations – if we begin to take care of ourselves much better than we have been doing, and stop needlessly killing each other. I don’t place my hopes too high on that.
Here is the current state of play…
Check bolded items in the legend at right for the displayed years. For a more detailed view, attend the NSIDC web site interactive sea ice chart and build you own version of the image.

I will say, as I have said many times previously, that there is little point in looking at individual years – which is what most of this image depicts – except as the years build up to form, in an indicative way, the next decade average line which cannot itself be portrayed (at least not by me) until perhaps February 2030 after all the data has been collected. This is real life we are looking at, not some computer projection. Which is why I always include the average lines for the most recent two decades. Purely for comparison purposes. I think that is useful, and provides us with increasingly accurate foretime results as the decade progresses.
So, at the end of June there was not much to say. As July ended, the image was a little sadder, but not for any strong reason. There were four years of the current decade below the previous decade average (2011-2020) and only two above it. Like I said, this did not indicate any strong indication that there is current movement to less ice presence than in that earlier decade. And now, just a few days later, what do we see? 2026 has now ‘popped its head up’ (that is a statistical term I just invented) above the 2011-2020 Av line – giving now an even spread of results. I believe this will persist and, as 2025 also did, remain as a much higher surface ice level for the remainder of the peak heat season of Northern Summer. And at that peak point, where maintenance of surface ice is at its most tenuous, there will be four current years above the previous average and only two below. Yes, I know this is simple observational logic, disdained by statisticians, but we will just wait and see, as always – although I can state with some pride (pride is not Narcissistic, it is satisfaction with the results of your own efforts) that the data shows steady agreement, at all points of the year, with my theory of a complete stoppage of the current century spread of sea ice loss. And that this is just a portent of the coming expansion of sea ice to eventually cover the whole Arctic Ocean once again for many, many, thousands of years – spawning a movement south for a great many humans and a depopulation of the Southern regions of my own country, ‘Great Southern Land’, Australia.
Change is coming. And it begins round about… Now!
