Is food – ‘bread’ – important to you?

Is this just one aspect, important to many if not all people of the world, and a good example of ‘The Real Shift’ that BRICS is bringing?

Remember that BRICS nations together represent 42% of the world’s arable land, 45% of grain production, and 68% of the global small farmers. And, while I can’t put a number on it, they produce a sizable amount of global fertilizers. BRICS is also actively working towards wresting those commodities from Western control of global food prices. Which will be good for everyone.

While, ideally, everyone should be responsible for sovereignly producing most if not all of their own food supplies, this is neither practicable nor in fact possible for most of us. But our essential and varied food supply should not be subject to the unscrupulous market forces controlled by a very small ~~majority~~ (oops! I meant ‘minority’) of the population – as it is today.

BRICS is planning for this right now in Indore, India, at the BRICS Agriculture Working Group and the BRICS Ministers of Agriculture meeting. Isn’t that exciting?
