It’s High Time to Demonstrate the Leverage of Nuclear Weapons

Western nations, particularly (but not exclusively) the United States, see themselves as holding some sort of authoritative dominion over the rest of humanity. This is an indelible tenet of their belief system. It is seen as their divine destiny. They will never give up the struggle to achieve that destiny. Only total destruction, or potentially a fear of failing – and what that would mean – could prevent them from relentlessly pursuing such a goal. So, they must either be destroyed or persuaded. I guess no-one is looking for their total destruction, or their subjugation as anti-social miscreants. Then, by what means persuaded? How?

A demonstration of the use of Nuclear Weapons, used against specific Western states themselves, personally, would perhaps likely generate sufficient fear on the part of those populations, though perhaps not their governments, to reject their long-time attitudes. This course of action, in the absence of any other valid prerogative is, sadly, now the only way to bring an end to the seemingly endless conflict threatening our world. And the only country capable of making such a demonstration on behalf of and with the support of a large slice of the global majority, is Russia.

That has been my own personal position for some time now, not often stated other than to bring Ukraine and its western backers to their knees (although that could be achieved now, given the will, quite easily and without resort to such extreme measures). Only, such lesser means would not work on the global scale. But if you think about it in a logical manner, a limited demonstration of pre-warned nuclear destruction of a specified list of targets is the only safe way to bring about such an ending on the greater global level without actually destroying the world. The risk of retaliation following such an action would still depend on the sensibilities and responses of Western folk in deterring any wrong or hasty response from their governments. I think sense, and a survival instinct, would prevail. Even if it rides narrowly on non-cooperation by military authorities with commands of their leaders at whatever level is necessary.

The following is a valid quote, in line with my own views, from a new article by Sergey Karaganov mentioned below…

“It’s high time to abandon the idiotic thesis, which primarily benefits the Americans, that there can be no winners in a nuclear war, and that if nuclear weapons are used, it will inevitably escalate to a global thermonuclear level.”

And so I find it particularly pleasing – though at the same time distressing, as a result of the failure of all other means to ever achieve the same goal – that Sergey Karaganov, an advisor to President Putin and an authoritative voice in many areas of Russian affairs of state, has once again (not for the first time) publicly aired such an idea, in the article linked below.

I cannot though, say that I agree with his religious view that such weapons are a ‘gift from God’ to humanity. But it is a somehow a natural progression from the fact that the original ‘gods’, the reality and advanced humanity of whom inevitably led to the man-made creation of the ‘make do’ modern concept of ‘God’ as a replacement figure for mankind’s own feelings of abandonment following the departure of the old gods from our planet some two thousand five hundred years ago. And since those old, human, gods are known to have possessed (and used) such weapons themselves, the effect of which almost destroying our fledgling civilisation situated in the once ‘Fertile Crescent’ of the Middle East around four thousand years ago – or so the records left behind, translated only in modern times, would indicate.

Now, we ourselves, once again find we are in the same position, being the children of those gods and with recent knowledge (previously withheld, until re-discovery) and now possession of the ‘gift of God’, to bring about a partial end – not quite total destruction (and hopefully far less than that) – to the impasse of our times and of our own creation, with a demonstration of immense power on one or more discrete targets, as was possessed by the old gods.

How ironic is that?

Only this time, used not as a purely destructive mechanism but as a means of dissuasion, through fear, acting on the unpersuadable elements of mankind to discontinue their disruptive path, and bringing about an era of peace and harmony to the world.

I would like to see that. And I think this is the only possible way to achieve it.
