Take a good look at the face of this man. He is one of the Trump monster’s new useful idiots – supposedly the US Special Presidential Envoy for Arms Control. All suit, no brain.
He is the same man who recently said (and this is all we need to identify his ‘type’) – “The president has made clear that we have a tried and true practice here. We know how to win these races and we know how to spend the adversary into oblivion. If we have to, we will, but we sure would like to avoid it.”
And he is supposedly going to ‘have talks’, or has expressed the desire to do that, with Russia and China. Well, I have no doubt that both those nations already have his measure and I doubt that China will want anything to do with him. Russia will undoubtedly go through the motions of attempting to set him straight (because they still hold a forlorn torch for hopes of a peaceful world), taking no notice of his bluster, and all no doubt to no avail. You just can’t reason with a person like this, and you equally cannot allow him to go away with the mistaken impression that he came out on top of any discussions or that his nation holds any sway on the international stage whatsoever, or can swagger about the world making demands or threats that anyone needs to perceive as being of any real substance. I guess this is why there is a role for a ‘Deputy’ Foreign Minister. It’s not wise to give the impression of granting substance to approaches such as this by permitting a hearing before a first rank official.
Why does the US bother to try to keep up this charade? Simply to maintain their own illusions of grandeur I suppose. Poor deluded fools. Only a few faltering steps away from national social and economic implosion. The US already knows all there is to know about spending themselves into oblivion.
